Baby Broccoli
While it may look like your typical broccoli, baby broccoli is actually a hybrid cross between broccoli and Chinese broccoli. Entirely edible, it has small florets, long stalks, and a few small leaves. It has a sweet, earthy taste, and it’s a bit more mild than traditional broccoli. Baby broccoli can be eaten raw but is best when cooked (grilled, steamed, roasted, sauteed) and makes a beautiful side dish on any plate. Crystal Valley’s baby broccoli is available year-round from Guatemala and seasonally from Mexico.
Tips for Selection
Look for baby broccoli with dark green heads and free from wilted or rubbery stalks.
