Leadership Founded on Relationships

Our President and CEO, Jay Rodriguez, helped start Crystal Valley Foods in 1994 with a mission to provide remarkable variety and superior quality. His genuine care for people is evident in the strong relationships cultivated throughout the supply chain. As a family-owned and operated business, we are humbled, with his leadership, to be able to carry forward his vision.
With many longtime employees who are an important part of the Crystal Valley family, we continue to expand our product offerings and distribution, always maintaining the personal touch and close partnerships that set us apart.

Timeline
Our History
Crystal Valley Foods was founded in 1994 by Jay Rodriguez, President and CEO, with a vision to deliver unique, fresh, nutritious, and high-quality produce to foodservice distributors and grocers across the country—while building lasting relationships with our customers.
In the early years, we focused on importing and distributing specialty products from Peru and Guatemala, while growing our core offerings: asparagus, French beans, baby vegetables, and snow peas. Committed to strong partnerships, we invested in land and packing houses to ensure consistent, premium produce. Over time, we became one of the few vertically integrated specialty importers in the industry.
As demand grew, we relocated in 2010 to our current Miami facility, featuring 18 loading and receiving doors, a modern pre-cooler, larger coolers, and expanded repack capabilities. In 2012, we opened Crystal Valley West at the Los Angeles Wholesale Terminal Market to better serve customers nationwide.
Continuing our growth and diversification, we acquired Team Produce in 2017, a leading importer of fresh asparagus, berries, stone fruit, and other specialty items from Central and South America. In 2019, we added Joco Produce, a pioneer in fresh Asian, tropical, and specialty fruits and vegetables.
These acquisitions gave us additional entry points through McAllen, TX, San Luis, AZ, and the Northeast—alongside Miami and Los Angeles—and expanded our ability to offer an unparalleled variety of premium specialty fruits and vegetables. Today, Crystal Valley Foods is proud to be the one-stop-specialty-shop we set out to become.
